Many children in North America are gearing up to go back to school, after having the summer months off. For those who are on a tight budget, projects such as these are a great way to re-vamp your child's wardrobe.

This project requires a plain backpack, or an old one that you wish to re-use. It is a good idea to create the design of the knapsacks around the child's interests, whether it be sports or music, or a favorite cartoon character.

The materials needed to decorate them can be found at any craft or thrift store. If you want to be really sneaky, you can design the backpack and surprise your child with it -- they'll think it was store bought!
